I'm Jaival, a Vancouver-based UI/UX designer with a background that sits somewhere between design, technology, and real-world problem solving. I create digital experiences that feel intuitive, considered, and visually sharp, combining user thinking with the technical curiosity to understand how things actually work.

How I got here

I studied Interactive Arts & Technology and Publishing at SFU, where I started working across UI/UX, web design, visual design, and digital media. Projects like Senior Circle and CloveByQuantum pushed me deeper into research, user flows, prototyping, usability testing, and turning designs into real responsive websites.

At the same time, working in AV and IT at SFU gave me a different perspective on design. I spend a lot of time watching people interact with technology in the real world - sometimes when everything works perfectly, and sometimes when one confusing button is enough to derail the whole experience. That made me care less about designing something that simply looks good and more about making things that feel obvious to use.

What I look for in a project

I like projects where there's something to untangle: a confusing flow, an outdated interface, too much information, or a good idea that hasn't quite found the right experience yet.

I'm especially drawn to digital products, websites, platforms, and interfaces where interaction and visual design matter equally. Give me something clunky and I'll probably start thinking about how I'd redesign it.

Outside work

When I'm not moving pixels around, I'm usually DJing, playing football, working around live events, shooting or editing something, or messing around with some piece of technology I probably didn't need to touch.

Music and live events are a big part of my life, and I think that carries into my design work too - timing, energy, attention, and knowing when something needs more and when it needs less.
